Tools For Your Toolbelt: Connecting With The Autism Community
Understanding how to quickly assess and respond to an individual with autism is a critical component of policing. Tools For Your Toolbelt: Connecting With The Autistic Community is a new course for law enforcement officers in Pennsylvania, designed to explain the fundamentals of autism and to teach basic skills that can be used when interacting with individuals on the spectrum and their families. Incorporating both data and scenarios, this course offers opportunities for law enforcement officers to learn, discuss, and share information. The course is offered statewide, through in-person training and online, as part of MPOETC’s Continuing Law Enforcement Education.

The Ausome Show
As an “Ausome” Father, I found it hard to process my feelings and thoughts when my son was diagnosed at age 3. I had anger, regret, depression and readily took it out on everyone, including my wife at that time. Throughout the years, I learned to be blessed with my son’s gift, and speak out to other Fathers, Mothers, and those in our Ausome community.
